All CPC models were based on a Z80 processor to 4 MHz Zilog However, due to be shared with the RAM circuit video, the Z80 can only make a memory access every four cycles, which produces round effect of the length of the cycle of instruction to the next multiple of four. Therefore the speed is equivalent to a 3.3 MHz Z80 processor instead of 4 MHz, note that for this reason, the performance in terms of processor, a CPC is lower than that of a ZX Spectrum Z80 has a 3.5 MHz
